When are you going to get the demonstration up? I can't wait to see it in action!
  • Anand Sharma · 8 months ago
Sometime over the weekend. But you can see the 2007 version in action at http://girlgamer.com and http://dragoninteractive.com
  • Ivo Ivanov · 8 months ago
cool, I love the 2007 version:) can't wait to see the new one.
  • Caleb Loffer · 8 months ago

    "or don't"
  • Anand Sharma · 7 months ago
Hey guys! Just posted the demo and download and made some changes to the other pages.
  • Alex Zhao · 7 months ago
    this is sweet!
  • arthur · 7 months ago
Am I crazy or is the demo not working ?

Using FF 3.0.10, also did a webshot on ie7 and its just plain white text?
  • Anand Sharma · 7 months ago
You are right. It was broken. I guess I broke it last night when taking out some of the debug code going from 1.0 to 1.1.

    It is now fixed...
  • arthursk · 7 months ago
Ahh.. Now that's what I was expecting to see!

Great work Anand, you are truly and inspirational man.

Your efforts combined with others are making the internet a more user friendly and beautiful place.

    Thank you.

    Awesome.

I get a significant delay between opening the demo page and the text being changed, like a FOUC, fixable with delaying rendering of the page but still a bit clunky.

So, have you dropped IE6 support as a default for commercial work?
  • Anand Sharma · 7 months ago
Hmm, not necessarily but for experimental stuff like Labs it's a good constraint not to have.
  • rowin · 7 months ago
Wow this is great! I cant seem to find the download link!
  • Anand Sharma · 7 months ago
Rowin: It's at the bottom of the page, the big vial with the cork and stuff.
  • Anand Sharma · 7 months ago
Ok, apparently some of the links weren't going to the right place. Should be fixed now!

Please modify rainbows to add an additional 0% opacity layer over the top of all the others so that the text is still properly selectable.
  • arthursk · 7 months ago
@Jacob, I was thinking of this the other night and would also love to see it implementation, if possible of course.

I'm sure this may have been mentioned earlier, but wanted to say that the site doesn't load properly in Chrome.

BTW - The gradient glow effect on the login panel is probably the coolest thing I've seen in a LONG time. Props for making some cool stuff.
  • Bram de Vogel · 7 months ago
    Great technique!
I was wondering if it could also work with sIFR 2 or 3 natively, or that a workaround should be constructed.
I have to say that you truly create wonders with code.
  • pab · 7 months ago
really nice, I'm having a weird issue though, the text is duplicating, and the original targeted text collapses onto itself.
  • icetrix · 5 months ago
This is very awesome! It is pretty fast and it works nice.

    Great piece of work!
  • hippiegirljess · 5 months ago
    I love you!
  • Empire430 · 5 months ago
Very rad! Another drawback is that the text is not selectable ... which isn't a biggie since this technique is to replace images : )
  • Arun · 5 months ago
Any way to make the text able to be copied with mouse? by the user of course.
  • Anand Sharma · 5 months ago
Not at the moment no, we couldnt think
Of a way to do it well

    awesome! nothing more to say...
  • dmcmullen · 4 months ago
Unless I'm having browser issues (FF3) I'm not sure why everyone is so pumped. This doesn't come close to what an image can provide in terms of excellence. The edges in the demo are jagged and can't compete with a soft shadow created in Photoshop or Fireworks.

Come on guys - are you for real here? The gradient is the real power behind this - and it looks pretty good. But you'll need to figure out the other stuff if it will ever compete with images.

    Uau veeeeery nice ._.
